I’m not sure, if WoTC increases the quality that drastically – IMO it mostly gives you more stuff to “worry” about when you start the game, since the Chosen will be a significant tactical problem early on. I liked it way more than XCOM “the first”.

It was also distinct from the “first” XCOM, insofar as concealment and timers enforce a more dynamic style of play, especially on higher difficulties. I actually played the clean base game first on purpose, despite buying in with WoTC, and it was an enjoyable experience by itself. Not a veteran, just someone who completed all XCOMs, through to WoTC.

So, WOTC is good but with XCOM2 you also have lot of hours, especially with mod like long war 2 IMO. I would prefers allies with differents skill, but easilly recruitable in number, like a new class. When you finish a chosen you gain its weapons, and because of this at the end my main group was too strong,Īlso, new allies in WOTC are too strong too. I just finished a commander campain on WOTC. They are well balanced, and easier to kill than some creatures of the DLC hunter. In WOTC you have the lost who bring some diversity, and the chosen who appear sometime in mission. WOTC has some good points like ALT click on a case to show what you can see somewhere before make a move,īut perhaps it is moddable or configurable on XCOM2 i don"t know yet.

From now, with XCOM2 you can upgrade with Long War 2,īut with WOTC you cannot yet since it is still in Beta 3 (lot of think will change in near futur, so i prefers wait a while before start a campain with this mod). I have seen XCOM 2 gameplay but only with WotC content on, and I'd like to ask "veterans" if the base game justifies it's price (even discounted) alone or if I should sit this one out and go for something that might be more enjoyable and in line with my means and leave this one for the future. Buttspikes: My budget is limited and XCOM 2 is a solid contender for my summer sale purchase, but having read how WotC overhauled the game to next level and beyond makes me wonder if the base game alone is worth it in lieu of other options (that I won't rank here because they are too diverse to compare).
